Literacy Program
Volunteers, a gift to the community
A Volunteer Literacy Tutor is a member of the community who gives time
and skills to help others learn.
- Tutors work with in English as a Second
Language classes to help immigrants learn English.
- Tutors work in Basic Education classes to help people learn reading,
writing, math, and computer skills.
- Tutors work in GED preparation classes to help people prepare for
the GED test.
YOU
can be a literacy volunteer
- All volunteers receive training through the Literacy Program
- Tutors work at least 1-2 hours at least once a week
- Tutors commit to work at least one college quarter
- Tutors are patient and accepting
- Tutors have good skills in the areas they are helping
- Tutors report to the Tutor Coordinator on a regular basis
