Transitions Course

This course prepares students for college by providing an introduction to basic material and concepts covered in the college classroom, such as text type and style, reference citation styles, and sentence grammar. Emphasis will be placed on academic literacy competencies including fundamental academic vocabulary, and cultural competencies focusing on geography, literature, and history. Problem solving and critical thinking techniques will be applied and specific barriers to academic success will be addressed. Students will apply to the college for admission, fill out the federal financial aid form, and investigate alternative sources of funding.

Daily homework assigned.
