PRI Seminars and Presentations

The Partnership for Rural Improvement (PRI) develops seminars that target the interests of the business community. The seminars are presented on a quarterly basis and include:

  • Lean manufacturing techniques: Lean manufacturing techniques have been used by Boeing and others to dramatically improve productivity while also improving quality and reducing costs.
  • Selling to the government: Federal, state and local governments purchase billions in supplies each year from small companies, but its suppliers must be on the governments' approved vendor lists and know how to market to governmental agencies.
  • Business basics: Whether starting or growing a business, the elements of effective marketing, financing, operating in a regulatory climate, and maintaining control are essential. Each element is addressed in this ongoing series.
  • Business technology: Techology is moving so quickly that most business owners do not have the time to keep up with all that is new and emerging. How the internet works and how to use it, new electronic equipment, and office software applications are some of the topics that will be reviewed.
  • Business literature: New business books are constantly being published, but busy business owners and managers rarely have enough time to sort through them. This new series will provide an overview of the ideas presented in the books and their applicability to everyday business life.
  • Small Acreage Farming: The year-round temperate climate of the Twin-Harbor provides excellent opportunities for niche farm production. This seminar covers the business of farming as well as small acreage farming opportunities.
