Charlie
Choker
The Grays Harbor College mascot represents the choker-setter, a logger with
a particularly courageous job in the woods.
This individual is a strong, hard-worker who places a cable with large clamps
around logs to remove them from the forest.
The GHC statue, which welcomes students and guests to the campus, was carved
by Louis Benanto, Jr. in 1975.
He began with a 15-foot by 8-foot cedar log and used a chain saw to create Charlie.
