Work Study Checklist

Job Placement Office, Room 203-C, Phone: 538-4098

*Keep this checklist as a guide during your search for a work study position*

o   Work study positions are posted in red on the Job Bulletin Board in the 200 building. When you find a position of interest, the Job Placement Office can help you with the referral process and authorization forms. You may only be referred to one job at a time.

o   You will need to return to the Job Placement Office to pick up your work study authorization form. You will then get the contact information for the supervisor of the job you wish to seek for employment for which you are eligible. If you are not eligible for the work study program the Job Placement Office will help you look into jobs in the community.

o   You will need to take the authorization form that you received from the Job Placement office when you meet with the supervisor along with a completed work study application, the application can be download from the Job Placement website.

o   If hired the supervisor must sign the bottom of the authorization form. The bottom portion of this form must be completed and returned to Financial Aid before you can begin work.

o   All work study employees hired on-campus are required to view videos on Blood Borne Pathogens and Hazardous Workplace Materials prior to receiving their first paycheck. Videos may be viewed on the 2nd floor of the library. You will be provided with a form verifying that you have viewed the videos upon completion.

o   Take your driver’s license, your social security card, and video verification form to Human Resources in room 2307. You will also complete W-4 and I-9 payroll documents at this office.  These documents must be completed BEFORE you begin work in your work study position.

Keep record of your monthly hours on a Student Time Sheet (available outside Financial Aid office). At the end of each month, sign and submit your time sheet to your supervisor. Your time sheet is to be turned in by supervisor’s only, not by a student. You will not receive a paycheck unless your time sheet is submitted by the last work day of the month. Payday is the 10th of each month.
