Personnel and Payroll

The college certifies the qualifications of part-time instructors.  You are required to submit a part-time instructor application form, an up-to-date resume, and college transcripts.

If you are teaching a college credit course, colleagues in instructional divisions will review your personnel file and make a recommendation regarding your qualifications to the instructional manager.  The Vice President for Instruction and the President are the hiring authority and make the final decision about employment.

You will also receive several documents from GHC that must be completed and returned.  The first is a part-time service contract.  This document outlines the conditions and terms of your employment as a GHC part-time instructor.  Please call your instructional manager with any questions concerning your contract.  Grays Harbor College shall issue each quarterly contracted academic employee an individual contract in conformity with Washington state law, SBCTC regulations, and the Grays Harbor College Federation of Teachers contract before the first day of instruction.

It will be necessary for you to sign the employment contract and keep the last copy for your records.  Return the other copies, signed, in the envelope provided.  W-4, census, retirement eligibility, and I-9 forms (witnessed and verified by employer) must be completed and returned.

If the contract and these forms are not promptly returned, the college may not be able to pay you on time for your hard work.

There are, typically, three pay periods during an academic quarter.  These pay periods are indicated in your contract.

Benefits such as healthcare and retirement have eligibility standards that are monitored by the Human Resource Office. If you are employed at any other state agency or college, please contact the Human Resource Office immediately at 360-538-4046. If you qualify for any part of the benefit package, the Human Resource Office will contact you.

A medical aid supplemental pension deduction to Washington State Department of Labor and Industries is made in case of a work-related accident leading to long-term disability. In addition, OASI and federal income tax withholding deductions occur at prescribed levels.

Contact the Human Resource Office at 360-538-4041 regarding these deductions if you have any questions.
