Academic Advising

Academic advising is an important key to success at Grays Harbor College.

Your advisor can help to keep you from:

• Taking courses that don’t meet graduation requirements.
• Missing needed classes that are not offered every quarter
• Enrolling in courses that are too advanced

Types of Advisors

Entry advisors

• assist new and returning students in registering for classes
• To make an entry advising appointment call 538-4049.

Permanent advisors (typically faculty members)

Help with:

• course selection and long-range academic planning
• college policies, procedures and deadlines
• transfer planning
• referral to other resources

Meet with your permanent advisor at least once per quarter during the advising period.

You can also email them or visit them during office hours or by appointment

If you have misplaced the name of your permanent advisor you can obtain it by calling Admissions and Records (538-9020).
